My Autobography

My name is Jacqueline L. Montgomery. I was conceived December 31, 1973 at 11:59 am with 1 second staying until the New Year. I am the third most established of five kids my mother had embraced my sibling, more established sister, turned into a piece of the family when nobody needed to be messed with her. I am a mother of five wonderful youngsters. One day my mothers companion stops by the house to monitor my mother. As of now Mrs. Rigsby was the executive of Lutheran family Mission. My mother was sick at the time.While I was playing with one of my cousins in the yard my mother companion was viewing in the back room window and perceived how I was dealing with the youngsters. I was not keen on working in a study hall. I needed to go to class to be a social laborer. I felt that the social specialist can assist every family with getting the assets that the families expected to make into in their regular daily existence. I was particularly keen on kids who had IEPs. I could battle from th e very first moment to get the kids the administrations that they need. I take a gander at it along these lines: these are the kids that will deal with me and my family one day.After chatting with my mom she let me know Å"Baby that is nearly a similar activity as social laborer in light of the fact that the educator does likewise separate as the social specialist does. You need the instructing experience to work with the youngsters the way that the state requires for the social specialists to have. Simply give it a shot and you will perceive how everything is run.  I have been working in the field of youth instruction for a long time. I have maintained different sources of income, yet there is something that holds taking me back to working with children.I contemplate my activity is that I can have any kind of effect in the lives of the youngsters. I am ready to gain from them and they can gain from me. I am pleased when a youngster is glad to prevail in the objectives that they ne ed to go after themselves. I went to be fingerprinted and the main day of work was a test in light of the fact that there is so much work you need to make sure to do when you have the youngsters at the inside. At home when you have the youngsters you don't need to stress over utilizing gloves recording the last diaper change, when they rested or in the event that you are doing various things with each child.The guardians were understanding; they would ask how the day was and truly felt worried about what was happening with their kids day by day activities despite the fact that they were in preschool. I see myself in the following couple of years getting my A. A. S. in Pre-school Education and coming back to Kendall to get my Bachelors Degree in youth instruction. In the following ten years I might want to open and run my own inside. My inside will help the kids just as their families.

Sadness and lack of pleasure (dysthymia) are two of the most common manifestations of depression in bipolar disorder, but they arent the only ones. When they reach extreme levels, there are six other emotions that can indicate the condition. If these feelings progress from reasonable responses to over-the-top reactions, it can be a sign that theres cause for concern. If you or someone you love has bipolar disorder, its important that you learn to recognize how these six emotions can be transformed by the condition. Irritability Everyone gets cranky occasionallyâ€"and often with good reason. The list of stressors that can cause a persons mood to take a nosedive is endless: for example, a bad headache, a sleepless night, or an unexpected bill. When to be concerned: Garden-variety irritability can be a sign of bipolar depression if a relatively little thing such as a minor interruption explodes into a major annoyance for no obvious reason. In other words, the response is out of proportion to what appears to be the trigger. Depression can also cause persistent irritability that lasts for days or weeks at a time. Can Depression Turn Into Bipolar Disorder? Anger Anger is a natural (and frequently reasonable) response to situations encountered in day-to-day life. For example, you may feel angry when a coworker is blatantly unfair or disrespectful. Anger also can be viewed as irritability thats been pushed to the limit. When to be concerned: When anger is a symptom of bipolar depression, a person may seem to explode over a situation or event that would otherwise be considered a mild irritation. They may even become angry in the absence of an external trigger. Someone exhibiting anger as a symptom of bipolar depression may seem (or even say that they feel) angry for no reason. Feelings of anger may seem to erupt out of nowhere. However, they may have been brooding for some time; only coming to a head after reaching a tipping point, which may have been a seemingly harmless trigger. If you or a loved one is experiencing persistent anger or anger that is frightening or escalates to violence, its time to reach out for help from your doctor or therapist. How Anger Management Works Worry and Anxiety As with anger, there are many situations in which its natural to feel anxious or worried. Under normal circumstances, these emotions disappear once the cause for concern is resolved. When these emotions dont get better or get worse, it may be a sign someone is dealing with a mental illness. When to be concerned: Worry that feels incessant or out of control (or out of proportion) can be a symptom of depression. Someone dealing with depression or an anxiety disorder may worry excessively about common everyday issues. For example, someone might perseverate on concerns like: Do I have enough sleeping pills? What will we have for dinner? Did I put gas in the car? A person with bipolar disorder may also express depression with extreme anxiety in response to the routine aspects of everyday life. For example, they might obsess about household tasks or their commute to work. Thoughts such as I have to call the plumberâ€"but what if he cant come today? or Id better leave early for my appointment in case the traffic is bad, could stem from underlying anxiety and depression. To complicate the symptom further, anxiety can also make someone indecisive. They may enter into a cycle of thinking about what they need to accomplish but finding it difficult to commit to a solution. Some people with bipolar depression experience generalized anxiety. This type of anxiety can be accompanied by racing thoughts; a common symptom of manic/hypomanic episodes. Normal Anxiety vs. Anxiety Disorders Pessimism Even the most optimistic person you know likely doesnt have a glass half full attitude all the time. There are times when negativity or a pessimistic point of view is clearly warranted. The disappointment of a rainy forecast for a picnic youd planned would likely spur some negative feelingsâ€"or at the very least, palpable disappointment. When to be concerned: With depressive pessimism, the negativity a person experiences is exaggerated compared to the reality of the situation. In fact, pessimistic thinking often precedes any specific event. A person may simply think: Its going to be another bad day. The negative viewpoint may not be limited to a persons external perception of the world; it can also be turned inward onto themselves. Someone who is depressed might think thoughts like, No one likes me. This negativity may also pervade a persons self-concept or sense of their abilities. For instance, they may look at a Help Wanted ad and think: Theres no point in applying for that jobâ€"I would never get it. When someone is depressed their perspective on how the world is, as well as who they are, is impaired by negative, often critical, patterns of thought. They may not be able to see (let alone feel) that they have good things in life to look forward to, that people who know them like and care about them, and that they are a capable person who has much to offer. Low Self-Esteem and Depression Self-Criticism Being able to honestly recognize and address your flaws is an important aspect of growth, but you dont necessarily need to be hard on yourself to be effective. You can be critical of your own behaviors while at the same time practicing compassion for yourself. All humans have flaws. Every person you know has their own old habits or unhelpful patterns of thinking that affect their ability to form healthy relationships, succeed in their career, or take care of their health. Recognizing how you might be getting in your own way is key to clearing the path so you can move forward. When to be concerned: If you view the areas where you need to work on yourself in an overly critical, even cruel, way rather than with compassion, it may be a sign that youre depressed. Its not uncommon for people with depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses to focus on their flaws, which often become magnified. They may begin to find flaws that arent really there. The critical self-talk someone with depression uses can reflect this internal critic: the thought I look tired today becomes Im ugly. The realization I made a slight miscalculation in my budget becomes Im an idiot with numbers. A simple (and easily corrected) mistake may propel someone into a deluge of self-destructive thoughts. I forgot to feed the cat becomes Im a bad pet owner, irresponsible, and a worthless person. If you frequently berate yourself this way, it may be depression talking rather than realistic self-criticism. Likewise, if youre grappling with deep feelings of guilt (taking the blame for situations that arent your faultâ€"or anyone elses for that matter) it may be a sign of underlying, perhaps even severe, depression. Indifference Simply put, indifference is not caring one way or the other. By that definition alone, indifference may not sound like a good feeling to have. Indifference certainly can cause problems, both in personal and professional relationships, as well as our relationship to the world around us. For example, being indifferent to the suffering of others compromises empathy. Not caring about the outcome of a certain situation, or being apathetic, is often an indication that weve lost motivation. However, it can be very useful in situations when its necessary to push through without getting caught up in what others think or becoming distracted by your own feelings. Sometimes being indifferent is fairly benign: for instance, when a friend asks you where you want to have lunch, you may find you dont have a preference and would be content with any of the options. When to be concerned: When indifference leads to inaction, it could indicate youre dealing with depression. If you notice that the laundry has piled up, you havent paid the bills â€"but you just dont care, this can be a sign that your level of indifference is creating problems in your life. Its important for you and your loved ones to know that in these instances, its not that you dont careâ€"you cant care because of the shell of indifference created by depression. You may notice your indifference affecting your relationships. For example, a friend may come to you with a problem and rather than feeling engaged and compassionate toward them, you might find yourself sitting there silently or perhaps offering polite noises of agreement. Mostly, you just feel detached. The various symptoms of bipolar depression can be challenging to identify, but the more you understand them the easier for you (and those around you) to recognize your patterns. Having an accurate diagnosis, support from a team of medical and mental health care professionals, and treatment thats effective for you will help you effectively manage your symptoms. Learning to cope with any mental illness, including bipolar disorder, takes time. Keep in mind that its a processâ€"and one that you dont have to go through alone. Coping With Bipolar Disorder

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - 1779 Words

On August 28, 1963, in a monumental moment in American history, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his powerful â€Å"I Have A Dream† speech in front of a crowd of over 250,000 people on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., our nation’s capital. The year 1963 is of particular interest to me because it comes just 3 years after the end of the 1950s, a period that to this day receives mixed analysis when examined. To many the 1950s was considered to be America’s so called ‘happy days,’ but to others like Martin Luther King Jr. and the thousands of civil rights protestors that followed him and other leaders, the 1950s marked a period of social injustice and racial oppression. â€Å"I have a dream...† said Dr. King â€Å"that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’† (King, 1964) It was not even a yea r later after delivering these famous words that on July 2nd, 1964 President Lyndon B. Idiom questions don’t conform to specific rules. You have to rely on your intuitive grasp of English and your familiarity with certain phrases. Because you’re likely to encounter at least a few idiom questions on the ACT English test, I’ll provide you with some information about idioms that should help you raise your ACT English score. In this post, I’ll do the following: Explain the concept of an idiom. Detail the most common types of idiom questions on the ACT English section. Offer strategies to help you identify and correctly answer idiom questions. Give a thorough list of idioms to help guide your studying. Provide you with ACT English practice questions to test you on what you’ve learned. What Is an Idiom? Idioms are phrases or expressions that do not conform to simple rules. Each idiom, by definition, is unique. Most people think of idioms as expressions that often have figurative meanings different from their literal meanings. Examples of this type of idiom include "actions speak louder than words," "barking up the wrong tree," and "make a long story short." However, the ACT does not test you on these colloquial expressions. ACT English idiom questions will test you on different types of idioms. Idioms have no rules. How Are Idioms Tested on the ACT English Section? While the ACT doesn't test you on the figurative expressions I referenced above, the ACT does test you on two types of idioms: prepositional idioms and idioms with gerunds/infinitives. Prepositional Idioms For prepositional idioms, you must know which prepositions to use with a given word based on the context of the sentence. For example, you should say that you "wonder about" something, not "wonder on" something. You're "suspicious of" something, not "suspicious by" something. There is no rule to determine the correct preposition to use. You must be familiar with the phrase or rely on what you think "sounds right." Here's an example sentence with a prepositional idiom: Unsurprisingly, after Corey decided not to pay back the substantial loan given to him by his best friend, everyone was outraged for Corey’s behavior. This is a typical sentence with an idiom error you may encounter on the ACT. There's no violation of a specific grammar rule in the sentence. However, the phrase "outraged for" is incorrect. The sentence should read: Unsurprisingly, after Corey decided not to pay back the substantial loan given to him by his best friend, everyone was outragedbyCorey’s behavior. The proper expression is "outraged by." There is no rule that allows you to determine the correct idiomatic expression. Familiarity with the given phrases will greatly help you in identifying idiom errors. There's another type of idiom that is commonly tested on the ACT. Idioms with Gerunds or Infinitives Gerunds are verbs that are used as nouns and end in "ing." Examples of gerunds include skipping, talking, and performing. Infinitives are verbs used as nouns and are constructed by using the word "to" plus a verb. Examples of infinitives include to do, to analyze, and to explain. So what are some examples of idioms with gerunds or infinitives? The correct phrase is "capable of being," not "capable to be." The proper idiomatic expression is "regarded asbeing," not "regardedto being." For these types of idioms, you need to know which preposition to use and whether to use a gerund or an infinitive. With some idioms, depending on the context, it's acceptable to use an infinitive or a gerund. Here's an example with the gerund in bold: I neglected doing my homework. The sentence is also correct if you use an infinitive: I neglected to do my homework. While both of those sentences are correct, this is a sentence with an idiom error: Shelby will succeed in to graduate from college. The phrase "succeed in to graduate" is incorrect. Do you know the right idiomatic expression to use? This is the corrected version of the sentence: Shelby will succeed in graduating from college. There's no rule to learn that will indicate that "succeed in graduating" is the correct phrase. Here's one more example of an idiom error: Gina decides leaving the group when we go out. This is how the sentence looks after we fix the idiom error: Gina decides to leave the group when we go out. The infinitive form should be used with the word "decides." Now here are couple of actual idiom questions from real ACTs. Real ACT English Examples Try to answer this idiom question from a real ACT: Explanation: The answer is D. The right idiomatic expression is "sat across from." Here's one more for you: The court agreed with Kevin that a person's right for wearing clothing of his or her own choosing is, in fact, protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. A. NO CHANGE B. of wearing C. to wear D. wearing Explanation: The correct expression is â€Å"right to wear clothing of his or her own choosing." The answer is C. Why Are Idiom Questions Difficult/Easy? Why They're Difficult Idiom questions can be challenging because other grammar questions follow specific rules or patterns that can be applied to all sentences. Idiom questions test your knowledge of specific idiomatic expressions. Literally, there are thousands of idioms. It's not practical to try to remember each one. Furthermore, ESL students are less likely to be able to identify idiom errors. Knowledge of idioms tends to be built throughout a lifetime of exposure to them. Why They're Easy Idiom questions are the only ones where solely relying on what "sounds right" is likely to give you the right answer. These questions do not require you to understand and apply a rule. If you're familiar with the specific idioms that appear on the ACT English section, you can easily spot any idiom errors. ACT English Tips for Idiom Questions #1: If a preposition, gerund, or infinitive is underlined, check for idiom errors. #2: The question may be testing idioms if the answer choices are all prepositions. #3: Keep a list of idioms that appear on your practice tests. #4: Review and familiarize yourself with the list of idioms below. List of ACT Idioms While there are thousands of idioms in the English language, almost all idiom questions I’ve encountered on the ACT involve prepositional idioms or idioms with gerunds/infinitives. I've listed some of the more common prepositional idioms and idioms with gerunds/infinitives to help guide your studying. Idioms that have appeared on questions in the Real ACT Prep Guide (the red book) are listed first. It's not practical for you to memorize every single idiom on this list. There are usually less than a handful of idiom questions on the ACT English section. Spending numerous hours learning hundreds of idioms would not be the best use of your study time. However, I do recommend that you review this list periodically to become more familiar with these phrases. Thinking about proper idiom construction should benefit you when you encounter idiom questions on the ACT. You'll improve your intuitive grasp of idioms and be able to better recognize idiom errors. There is a huge transition of many of the characters from the beginning to the end of the novel.   This evolution of the characters is a recurring theme that runs throughout the novel and can be tracked by Celie’s letters.   The women struggle   for freedom in a society where they are inferior to men.   Towards the end of the novel one can sense the slow evolution towards the increasing empowerment of women.
